I am a York based contemporary painter, working in an expressive and loose semi/abstract style.

My work often features the North Yorkshire Moors, Yorkshire, Northumberland and Cornish coastlines and still life & flowers. Working primarily in acrylics & mixed media I love to capture light and atmosphere, preferring to get the ‘sense’ of a picture rather than relating too much detail. Texture is important to me in my work and I like to build up layers of varying textural and tonal contrasts using a brush and palette knife. I love to expose hidden layers by sanding back, covering over and reworking, enabling the work to evolve and take on a life of its own.

I am of British/Italian extraction and grew up in North Wales where I went on to study Fine Art at the North Wales Institute of Fine Art in Wrexham.  For most of my adult life I have lived in Yorkshire, on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors.

My work has been exhibited widely throughout Yorkshire including a solo show at the Helmsley Arts Centre, the Great North Art Show, Ripon Cathedral (2015), Ferens Art Gallery, Hull (2018), LFA Showcase 2019 (Huddersfield Art Gallery) & LFA Dean Clough 2018/19. In 2020 I was invited to take part in an online exhibition with Highgate Contemporary Art Gallery entitled “Interpretations of Landscape”. I have exhibited regularly with the SWA over the past few years at the Mall Galleries. I have collections of work in the US, Sweden, Australia, Germany and Eire.  I am a member of Leeds Fine Artists and have exhibited regularly with York Open Studios for several years.
