The dress shows a woman as a puppet with strings. It's about keeping up appearances, someone/the patriarchy dictating one's movements, and presenting a false image, but deep down wanting to be a 'real' person, not an act. The portrait above shows the real woman; this is her story, her dress, what she wears. It is based and influenced by a theater set and the story of Pinocchio including the blue fairy and Gepetto.

'Garden' is about freedom, exploration, flight, and female empowerment. The text 'I will live by my own policies' is taken from a Sinead O'Connor song 'The Emporer's New Clothes'. It is a garden of magic, colour, and strange little creatures; about creating whatever kind of life you want.

'Rise Up' was inspired by the song by Andra Day; it began from the bottom, about the oppression of women and mother and the recent overturning of Roe v Wade in the US, making abortions illegal in some states. That was my beginning point, about being stepped on and controlled. I thought of Dante's Inferno, and the rising up from a hellish place. The top figure was inspired by Leonora Carrington's painting 'The Giantess', I wanted her to be a strong figure with birds coming out from her soul into flight.
